Locals are almost always happy to take you around, provide valuable advice, and do anything they can to make your travels comfortable. They can show you a different side of their part of the world that you could never see if you stuck to the tourist trail.

It’s also possible to make some of the best lifelong friends and connections when you travel.

I’ve been traveling over the last several years, visiting over 30 countries and living in more than a dozen different places all over the world. Having gone from rookie traveler, green behind the ears, to a seasoned veteran, I’ve learnt a lot about how quickly make friends in any city I visit before I even step off the plane.
